Co. Clare

Travelling to Co. Clare is relatively straightforward with flights into Shannon Airport from most major airports in the UK and major motorways from Galway, Cork and Dublin. The nearest town to the ceremony and reception is the county capital, Ennis, where there is both a bus and train station connecting you to Shannon, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Dublin.  Without a car, there are several taxis that can get you between Ennis and Dromoland for about €15 – 087 13 55 006 / 086 351 3151 / 087 254 7511.  Shannon Airport transfers to Ennis cost about €35 which can be booked on online at www.silverbus.ie

Dromoland Castle

For the wedding ceremony we have laid on a bus that will take you from Dromoland Castle to the Church, and then onto the drinks reception at Ballyallia House, and back to Dromoland Castle for the main reception. However, spaces are limited, so if you are driving, Dromoland Castle is located just off M18 junction 11.  To get to the church, follow signs to Galway. Barefield Church is just a mile from M18 junction 14.  Follow signs into Barefield and the church is on your left as you enter the village. Click here for map and directions from the hotel website.

Ballyallia House

Ballyallia House is approximately 2.5 miles from the Church.  Head back out of Barefield the way you came in and follow signs for Ennis.  After 2 miles, turn sharp right, almost back on yourself, following signs for Ballyalla.  You will pass a very picturesque lake on your left, and the entrance to Ballyalla House is a further ½ mile, again on your left.  Go past the pink lodge house and follow the drive ¼ mile up to the main house, where parking will be signposted.  Re-trace your steps to the M18 to get to Dromoland Castle, following signs to Shannon/Limerick/Bunratty.
