Dromoland Castle
Dromoland Castle is a castle, now a 5-star luxury hotel with golf course, located near Newmarket-on-Fergus in County Clare, Ireland. Its restaurant, the Earl of Thomond, was awarded a Michelin star in 1995, under head chef Jean Baptiste Molinari. Dating back to 1551, the castle has seen a colourful history of rebellions and domestic disputes (Source: Wikipedia). Historic hotels worldwide dates heritage linked to the castle as far back as the 11th century, and suggests it is the only gaelic castle to possess true royal blood.
The castle is approached by a long sweeping drive from the lodge. It is a gothic revival or Baronial building made entirely from dark blue limestone with four irregular castellated turrets and a later Queen Anne addition.
